Former Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel Hafeez said that Percy Tau was not as effective as two of his teammates during Al Ahly's 4-2 win over Future FC in the final of the Egyptian Super Cup.

Former Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel Hafeez said that Percy Tau was not as effective as two of his teammates during Al Ahly's 4-2 win over Future FC in the final of the Egyptian Super Cup.

Percy Tau was not as effective as two other Al Ahly stars in their latest cup triumph, according to a former club chief.

The Red Devils continued their domestic dominance by winning yet another trophy after beating Future FC 4-2 in the final of the Egyptian Super Cup on Thursday night.

Ahly were handed a late victory by Anthony Modeste and Karim Fouad, who both scored in extra-time after the regulatory 90 minutes ended with a 2-2 scoreline.

The 11-time CAF Champions League winners found themselves 2-0 up after 45 minutes, courtesy of a 13th minute opener by Kahraba and a 34th minute strike by Hussein El Shahat.

During the half-time interval, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, the club's former director of football, praised Al Ahly for their stellar display up to that point, but thought Tau could have done better.

"A distinguished half. There is continuous movement and recovery by El Shahat and Kahraba, and a continuation of [Ali] Maaloul, Percy Tau and Emam Ashour. An ideal half," he told Abu Dhabi Sports, per Btolat.

"El Shahat is more effective, along with Kahraba, but Percy Tau is trying and he is still not effective, but the trio is moving wonderfully.

"There is freedom of movement from the front three, and the curtain that [Ahmed Nabil] Koka creates behind the front line. Al Ahly's lines are very close, a distinguished first half despite Abdelkabir El Ouadi's chance.

"Future is required to enter the second half offensively. They must give freedom to Ahmed Atef. Mohamed Sadeq plays a good match and Ghanam Mohamed, but Al Ahly's technical condition and high mood made the task difficult for Future."

Future would, however, mount a comeback in the second half with a 76th minute goal by Omar El Said putting his side back in the game, before the equaliser came through Mohamed Mahmoud to leave the Red Devils stunned.

After 90 minutes, with the score tied at 2-2, Abdel Hafeez suggested that Ahly boss Marcel Koller might have taken too long to make his substitutions.

"Kohler took it easy," he added.

"The changes came in the 76th minute, but it was an exciting match.

"After the changes, Al Ahly appeared as if they had achieved their goal."
