Sekhukhune United recorded their fourth straight win in the DStv Premiership this week, following a convincing 4-1 win over Moroka Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday evening.

While the game ended 1-1 at the break, a seven-minute goal spree saw Linda Mntambo, Tresor Yamba, Thamsanqa Masiya and Jamie Webber guide Babina Noko to victory.

The home side attacked early on, with Jacob Everson recording the first attempt on target in the 2nd minute of the encounter. Swallows looked comfortable in possession, however, Sekhukhune looked to press the hosts high up the pitch.

However, it was Babina Noko who took the lead in the 6th minute as Linda Mntambo got his name on the scoresheet. Continuing in his fine form after recovering from injury, the midfielder’s left-footed shot from the centre of the box whistled into the top right corner.

After Sekhukhune had opened the scoresheet, the game opened up somewhat with Everson and Siphesihle Mkhize proving to be the attackers-in-chief for their respective sides as the 20th minute rolled on.

Swallows then levelled matters in the 30th minute, as Everson eventually added his name to the scoreboard. Following a set-piece situation, the midfielder made no mistake with a close-range header to the left side of the six-yard area.

The game reached a tacky period after the restart, with neither side able to create any notable scoring chances all the way up until the 60th minute.

However, Babina Noko continued to turn the screws after the hour mark and subsequently took the lead in the 62nd minute. After being awarded a corner, Tresor Yamba popped up on the edge of the six-yard box to guide his side home with a clinical header.

Thamsanqa Masiya then joined in on the fun, after capping off a swift transitional move three minutes after Yamba’s effort. With Swallows leaving gaping holes in their defence, the 27-year-old did well to beat the Renaldo Leaner with a well-placed effort toward the bottom right corner.

Then, adding to Sekhukhune’s flurry of three goals in seven minutes, Jamie Webber added his name to the goal scorer’s list in the 69th minute after his right-footed shot inside the box found the back of the net.

The Dube Birds were unable to breach the Sekhukhune defence for the remainder of the match, while Babina Noko created a couple of goal scoring opportunities toward the final whistle. Nevertheless, the Limpopo side’s efficient display in front of goal in the second-half was enough to bag maximum points on the road.
