GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Our week has started unsettled with scattered rain and snow across the mountains. The valleys have been drier, but this overall unsettled pattern will persist on Tuesday. More scattered snow in the mountains and rain showers in the valleys are likely, but that doesn’t mean we will all get rain or snow.

Overnight

We’ll generally stay dry tonight, even as a small band of snow tracks just north of the Grand Valley. That will bring brief snow overnight to Rangely, Craig, Meeker, and surrounding areas, but that will stay north of I-70.

Scattered Rain & Snow Tuesday

Scattered snow will begin increasing across the High Country by 9 AM to noon Tuesday. This isn’t necessarily an issue for us at home, but if you have travel plans through the mountains this can affect you. Scattered snow can blow off of the mountains and over the valleys, likely changing to rain in the valleys. Scattered valley rain and mountain snow are likely on Tuesday, however, it won’t be all day rain and snow. Further, we’re not all guaranteed to get rain or snow. More areas will likely stay dry, but we’re all fair game for rain and snow through Tuesday evening. The valley rain and mountain snow will fade between 8 PM and midnight Tuesday. That last little bit of snow over the Grand Mesa and Battlement Mesa will end before morning, but scattered snow is still possible throughout much of Wednesday over the High Country. Snow amounts will generally be limited to an inch or two. Isolated cases of 3-4 inches are possible - especially on some of the high passes.

Our Next 24 Hours

This evening will be mostly cloudy with a very small chance for a stray shower, especially over the higher elevations. We’ll cool from upper 40s at 6 PM to middle 40s at 8 PM, then to lower 40s at 10 PM. The rest of tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy. A stray shower can’t be ruled out, but we’ll stay dry overall. Low temperatures by morning will be near 29 degrees around Grand Junction, 25 degrees around Montrose, 26 degrees around Delta, and 22 degrees around Cortez. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with scattered snow across the High Country. A few stray rain showers are possible in the valleys here across the Western Slope. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees around Grand Junction, 46 degrees around Montrose, 51 degrees around Delta, and 47 degrees around Cortez.
