SuperSport United were denied back-to-back wins in the DStv Premiership following a 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United on Tuesday evening.

After bringing an end to the winless run, club record-scorer Bradley Grobler picked out the home side’s eleven before Kamohelo Mokotjo and Linda Mntambo featured at the other end.

Mokotjo missed a big chance to put the visitors ahead from a delivery by Bafana Bafana’s Elias Mokwana where he dragged wide with the goal in plain sight.

Babina Noko weren’t despondent as another telling opportunity went astray when Nigerian forward Chibuike Ohizu steered Lebohang Mabotja’s supply well wide.

For Matsatsantsa, the underwhelming opening were compounded by the injury of youngster Siviwe Magidigidi ten minutes to halftime to see Tendamudzimu Matodzi come on.

Sekhukhune continued on the attack five minutes past halftime and had captain Lind Mntambo go wide from inside the box off Ohizu’s pass.

Matsatsantsa started to show some courage later on as Terrence Dzvukamanja went high and wide after meeting a delivery into the six-yard area.

Grobler looked to go one better moments later when he nodded over from the area off a pin-point cross by Lyle Lakay, with the stakes beginning to hot up on all fronts.

Highly-rated youngster Shandre Campbell, who started on the bench came on for Lakay towards the last 20 minutes in a quest to revive their attacking stall.

Campbell missed a chance to make a telling impact from the dugout shortly after entering when he steered a ball in the area well wide of the mark.

SuperSport eventually had the opener in the last three minutes when Grobler connected with Matodzi’s delivery and finished from inside the six-yard area.

The lead didn’t last though after Babina Noko claimed the equaliser in added time as Ohizu guided home Rally Bwalya’s assist to leave the contest honours even.
