The match, delayed by 30 minutes due to inclement weather, saw Matsatsantsa squander several opportunities before a late goal from striker Bradley Grobler clinched the win. This result elevates SuperSport United to fifth place on the log with 15 points from 11 matches, while Magesi FC remains at the bottom, 16th, with six points from nine matches.

SuperSport United began the game assertively, with Tashreeq Morris finding the net in the 13th minute, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside. Morris continued to threaten, notably with a header from Aphiwe Baliti’s cross around the 30-minute mark, which was expertly saved by Magesi’s goalkeeper, Elvis Chipezeze. Shortly after, Morris attempted a quick turn and shot inside the box, directing the ball straight at Chipezeze.

The first half concluded goalless. Seven minutes into the second half, a fluid passing sequence allowed Ghampani Lungu to break free on the right side of the penalty area, but his shot from a tight angle went wide, missing an unmarked Bradley Grobler in the centre.

Just past the hour mark, Vincent Pule unleashed a dipping long-range shot destined for the net, but Chipezeze made another fine save. Ten minutes later, the goalkeeper denied Pule again, turning away a second goal-bound effort.

Magesi FC offered little in attack but nearly scored in the 78th minute when Edmore Chirambadare delivered a precise cross to Tshepo Kakora, whose header missed the target.

Two minutes later, SuperSport United broke the deadlock. Grobler capitalised on a loose ball in the box, turning and finishing calmly past Chipezeze to secure the 1-0 victory.

SuperSport United will return to Premiership action later this month, hosting Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, 28 December. Magesi FC will face Orlando Pirates at home the following day.
