After beating South Africa women in the three-match ODI series and a one-off Test, the Indian women will next take them on in three T20Is beginning from Friday, June 5 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has had a clean record in the tour so far beating the Proteas women in each and every game.

India started the tour with a massive 143-run in the first ODI in Bengaluru followed by a thrilling four-run win in the second game. They further thrashed them by six wickets in the third and final game to complete a 3-0 whitewash.

The changing of the format didn’t bring any change in fortunes for South Africa as they were further hammered by ten wickets in the one-off Test against after India posted the highest ever score in women’s Test of 603/6.

After losing back-to-back series, the Laura Wolvaardt-led side will be desperate to register their first win in the upcoming T20I. However, the past record does not paint a promising picture for the visitors who have won just five out of the 16 T20Is played between the two teams.

Furthermore, in the past seven meetings between two teams, South Africa have an upper hand having won four times.

Their last meeting came during the Tri-Series final featuring West Indies alongside the two teams where South Africa emerged victorious beating India by five wickets. The Proteas finished as the runner-ups of the last edition of the women’s T20 World Cup and will be looking to remind themselves of that fact and take India down in the upcoming fixture.

The first T20I between India Women and South Africa Women can be watched on Thursday, July 5 from 7:00 PM IST (01:30 PM GMT).
