Former Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio featured as one of the many ex-Giallorossi players to speak ahead of this evening’s Derby della Capitale.

The Brazilian shot-stopper spoke about the importance of this match in an interview with Tag24.it.

“There’s no favorite in the derby. If you look at the latest matches, Roma have done a little better, and perhaps there could be a small advantage due to the fact that Lazio played in Coppa Italia a few days ago; but when you enter the field, you cannot think about anything else but the game.”

“Lazio has a new coach, who replaced a great manager like Sarri. But the same also happened with Mourinho at Roma, where De Rossi seems to have managed this team his whole life. The derby is difficult to interpret, it’s ninety minutes of insanity.”

“I’m in no position to give De Rossi advice for tonight. He took charge of the team and immediately brought results, but the derby is always a different match from the others, where you need to have focus and maximum attention to detail. And a little luck, too.”

“De Rossi was intelligent even as a footballer, he was one of the best in his role. He had to defend, attack, assist; someone with this tactical intelligence could only become a coach after his playing days were over. Then he started studying, joined the national team, he’s a good guy. He had everything as a player, now he is proving to be even more mature as a coach, making right and precise choices.”
