Sadiq Umar gets Getafe lifeline after disappointing campaign with ...
Spanish Laliga side Getafe could attempt to sign Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar on loan at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq has had a disappointing stint with Real Sociedad since he joined from Almeria in 2022 for €20 million. In his first season, he sustained a cruciate ligament injury after just his third game.
That injury ruled him out of action for the entire season. He missed 45 games in all. However, Sadiq returned to action last summer and got re-integrated into the squad.
But the 27-year-old striker is yet to return to his best, as he has started in just 12 of his 26 appearance for Real Sociedad. He also has three goals and one assist this season.
Although coach Imanol Alguacil has always shown support for Sadiq, he seems to have fallen down the pecking order, with Mikel Oyarzabal and Takefusa Kubo getting more game time. And it does not seem things will improve unless there is a remarkable turnaround in the summer.
However, it appears Sadiq now has a lifeline as Noventa FC reports that Getafe are considering a loan move for him in the summer.
Getafe are set to lose Mason Greenwood, who will return to Manchester United at the end of his season-long loan and a renewal is unlikely.
If the move works out, it will give Sadiq a good opportunity to get more gametime and jumpstart his career.
