Getafe forward Mason Greenwood has been targeted by LaLiga supporters once again with Real Sociedad supporters branding the Man United loanee a 'rapist' and telling him to 'kill himself' during Sunday's game.

The Englishman has been on the receiving end of abuse on multiple occasions this season and it continued during the 1-1 draw at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The Sociedad fans made their feelings known to Greenwood and his manager Jose Bordalas was far from impressed.

After the match, he said, via AS: 'I don't have much to say. It is unacceptable. This is not the first time this has happened to us and we must take action. Like what happened in the game against Sevilla.'

The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Getafe, was charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour in October 2022 but the case against him was subsequently dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew.

United had also conducted their own internal investigation into the matter, concluding that releasing the £75,000-a-week player was not an option, but would instead seek a future for him away from Old Trafford.

He arrived at Getafe in September 2023, and after returning eight goals and five assists, the Spanish outfit have been eager to tie the Man United player down on a second loan deal.

Greenwood has previously told the club's official YouTube channel that he has 'adapted pretty quickly' and was 'happy' at his new team.

Mail Sport understands Man United will not be short of offers for their academy graduate. The Red Devils have also received expressions of interest from clubs in Europe along with inquiries from some teams in the English top-flight.

Whether United will receive an acceptable price for Greenwood remains to be seen.

Lazio had attempted to sign the England international on loan last year and are one club who may revisit the situation.

Ratcliffe and his leadership team are yet to make a final decision on his future and are still reviewing the extensive evidence that was collated during the club's internal investigation.

The INEOS CEO had previously left the door open over a possible return, despite indications from the club that he would not play for United again.

Greenwood is contracted to the Red Devils until 2025. His deal also includes a clause that allows Erik ten Hag's side to extend his stay at Old Trafford for another 12 months.
