Police in KwaZulu-Natal are on high alert ahead of the province's first legislature sitting on Friday, after the National Freedom Party (NFP) said it would align with an ANC, DA and IFP coalition pulling control of the province away from former president Jacob Zuma’s MK Party.
Top police sources in KZN say they were acutely vigilant following the NFP announcement.
The NFP emerged as kingmakers between the two sides but made it clear ahead of the first sitting of the National Assembly that it would not favour Zuma's party.
