While Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau battle at the top of the 2024 Masters leaderboard, there’s plenty of other intrigue Friday at Augusta National. With players competing in the second round, the cut looms large. Here’s everything you need to know about the Masters cut — including who’s in danger of heading home.

How does the Masters cut work?

At the Masters, the top 50 players (plus ties) qualify to compete on the weekend. Eighty-nine players teed it up to start the week, so more than 30 players will say goodbye to Augusta National by day’s end. The Masters used to also have a 10-shot rule, meaning anyone within 10 shots of the lead made the cut, but that rule was abolished in 2020.

What is the current Masters cutline?

As of 3:45 p.m. ET, the cutline is four over, with 55 players inside that number. However, with high winds in the forecast throughout the afternoon, that number could be higher by day’s end. According to Data Golf, there is a 57.4 percent chance the cutline remains at four over, and a 42 percent chance it moves to five over. We will keep you updated on that number as the day progresses.

Who’s in danger of missing the cut?

Midway through Friday, there are a number of notable names projected to miss the cut. Dustin Johnson, the 2020 Masters winner, sits at 11 over and will likely miss the weekend for the first time since 2021, while two-time winner Bubba Watson sits at 10 over. Brian Harman is eight over midway through the back nine, while Jordan Spieth and Sam Burns both sit at nine over.

Check out below for a complete list of notables in danger of missing the weekend.
