Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday will be Klopp’s 491st and final game in charge of the Reds, as he brings down the curtain on a memorable and glorious reign on Merseyside.

And for players like Elliott, who has played 118 games since being handed his debut by Klopp as a 16-year-old in 2019, there is a burning desire to ensure the manager not only leaves on a high note with a victory, but that he is fully aware of just how loved and appreciated he is by staff and supporters alike.

“The gaffer, we can’t thank him enough and it’s the least we can do for him,” Elliott told Liverpoolfc.com. “The achievements that he has achieved as a manager and for us as players, the experiences that we have gained, we can never say thank you enough.

“The least we can do is go out and perform for him and put our hearts on the line. He’s given us many opportunities and turned us into men. There’s another game at the weekend but it’s going to be a very emotional one for everyone.”

He continued: “It’s going to be an emotional day. Us as players and us as a club, we can’t thank the coaching staff and himself enough and I think the least we can do is put in a top performance for him and give him the best possible send-off. I know as a club we are going to do that with the fans behind us as well.

“There’s one man who deserves that in this world and that’s the boss. For us as players, we just want to go out and play the best possible football we can.

“We are on our home turf and we’ll come to the emotions after the game.”

Elliott was speaking after Monday night’s 3-3 draw with Aston Villa, a game which saw Liverpool surrender a commanding 3-1 lead in the closing stages at Villa Park.

“The last 10 minutes simply wasn’t good enough,” he said. “We played into their hands and caused ourselves problems, and against a great team in Aston Villa that’s the consequence.

“A point is a point, not what we wanted, but we can build on it and put things right at the weekend.”

The result was Liverpool’s 10th draw of the Premier League season, a fact that was not lost on Elliott as he reflected on the campaign.

“We can all feel it, especially this kind of end part of the season,” he said. “We’ve had too many draws which should have been wins and unfortunately that’s the way our season has gone.

“But as I keep saying, it’s something that we can reflect on. We’ve been in this situation before so if it comes to it again next season or the seasons after, we’ve been in that situation and we know how to battle it out.”

Elliott also praised Jarell Quansah, who netted his first ever Premier League goal at Villa Park.

“Jarell has been amazing throughout this whole season,” he said. “His first proper season in the Premier League and the way he has played and the way he has conducted himself has just been top drawer.

“No-one deserves it more than him. When the ball hit the net I was delighted and he deserved every moment of it. You can see in his passion and in his expression, he’s been working hard to have a moment like that, especially in front of an away crowd.

“It’s just an amazing feeling for him and I’m so happy.”
