AMERICAN soul and R&B singers have visited Mzansi over the years, from Tevin Campbell to Anthony Hamilton, Tamia and Boys II Men.

While some people may be excited for their all-time favourite artist to be serenading them with their favourite throwback jams, others feel as though they come to Mzansi late in their careers.

Joe Thomas who's in Mzansi for his tour, Magic Music Sessions, isn’t a stranger to South Africa.

He has performed previously and has come back to bless his audience with performances.

The Good Girls hitmaker hosted a media briefing at the Sun Arena in Tshwane on Monday, 29 April, before his third show happening on Tuesday, 30 April.

When Daily Sun asked him why American artists come to Mzansi late in their careers, Joe said: “I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t know the reasons why they want to come and why so late,” he said.

He said at the first opportunity he had to come to SA, he jumped at it.

“I couldn’t wait to be here. I can’t speak on their behalf, and I think anytime anyone gets an opportunity to perform as an artist and come to South Africa, they experience something so beautiful and amazing,” he said.

He said that he's grateful to be in the country.

“There's nothing but love, appreciation and respect. Everyone wants to feel loved, appreciated and respected, and that’s exactly what I get every time I'm here,” he said.

He said it helps when he has an audience that knows everything.

“You guys are so in tune, and it’s beautiful to experience every time you are on stage. It’s also surprising because you don’t know if that is how it’s going to be. It motivates you as well,” he said.

Joe said he's thankful for the support.

“From the beginning, like I said, when I first got the opportunity to come I was ready. I didn’t want to lose the opportunity,” he said.
