Glasgow Warriors player ratings: Zander Fagerson's 'stunning ...
George Horne in action for Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship in 2024.
Following a 27-10 victory over the Stormers in the United Rugby Championship quarter-final at Scotstoun on Saturday, here are the player ratings for Glasgow Warriors.
15 Josh McKay: Was a threat on the counter-attack and a lively presence with the ball in hand without truly breaking free. 6
14 Sebastian Cancelliere: A very good display from the Argentine, who finished his try well and also had other excellent moments with ball in hand. 7
13 Huw Jones: Like McKay, there was the odd sign but ultimately the Stormers shut him down pretty effectively. 6
12 Sione Tuipulotu: Was abrasive in contact on both sides of the ball and it was his excellent run which set up Cancelliere’s score. 7
Lively on the wing11 Kyle Steyn (c): Quite the display from the Scotland wing as he regularly broke through the Stormers’ defence. Impressive in pretty much every facet. 8
10 Tom Jordan: Solid from the fly-half, who did his job next to George Horne effectively. 6
9 George Horne: Excellent from the scrum-half who, unlike Manie Libbok, was accurate off the tee. Horne’s box-kicking was also accurate while his decision-making was on point. A mature performance. 8
8 Jack Dempsey: Got through plenty of work and was the Warriors’ primary ball carrier, getting his side over the gain line. 7
Big performances from the flankers7 Rory Darge: A mammoth effort on both sides of the ball. Huge in defence, where he made several big hits, and a pest at the breakdown. 8
6 Matt Fagerson: Like Darge and Dempsey, Fagerson put himself about and stood up well to the physical Stormers side. 7
5 Richie Gray: Superb work ethic as he put in his tackles and continually pressurised the opposition lineout, forcing some turnovers. 7
4 Scott Cummings: See Gray as he was busy in defence and excellent at the set-piece, helping Glasgow to control that battle. 7
Stormers player ratings: Manie Libbok’s mare while Springbok hopefuls shine despite URC exit
Incredible turnover3 Zander Fagerson: That counter-ruck on Joseph Dweba was absolutely stunning, and it summed up another outstanding performance from the Scotland tighthead. 8
2 Johnny Matthews: The try-scoring machine was quieter on Saturday, but the hooker did his core roles well in the scrum and lineout. 6
1 Jamie Bhatti: Similar to Bhatti, it was a good effort from the loosehead as he competed well with the great Frans Malherbe. 6
Replacements: There was some real punch from George Turner, Oli Kebble and Henco Venter to see out the game as the Warriors deservedly moved into the URC semi-finals. 7
