Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Eze and Mateta are joint top scorers for Crystal Palace, with eight each, and could easily bag another couple by the looks of things. A fabulous half of football by Crystal Palace, who were cruising from about 15 minutes in, and a simply dreadful one by West Ham. Eze and Olise have dominated the game thus far, both getting on the scoresheet alongside Mateta and spurning a few more chances, with the highlight of the game being Eze’s stunning bicycle kick in the 16th minute. Emerson’s unfortunate own goal in the 20th minute encapsulated the half for West Ham – shapeless, outrun, and completely outmaneuvred. Antonio at least got the visitors on the scoresheet shortly before the break, meaning he’s scored in each of his last four starts against Palace and on his 250th appearance for West Ham. But Moyes is going to have to give the team talk of his life to get his side back into this after the restart.
