Chippa United have moved to fourth place in the DStv Premiership following their 1-0 win over SuperSport United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday night.

The win gave Chippa coach Morgan Mammila his first win at home thanks to a late winner by Elmo Kambindu.

Just as it looked like Matsatsantsa will hold on for a draw, Luvuyo Memela played Kambindu through on goal to find a late winner.

Mammila was pleased with how his side played but also said the team could still improve.

“I’m happy with the result although I’m not that hundred percent happy,” said the Chippa United coach after the match.

“Because we can do better but this is work-in-progress. Three points and we go from position seven to four, so I’m very happy and we can build a strong team from here.

“It was our first win at home and don’t forget we had the biggest teams in the country here. We drew one and lost one but that’s football. The focus now is just to be consistent and my team is close to how I want them to play,” he said.

Since returning to the club, Mammila has changed how the Chilli boys play and has now lifted them to fourth on the log. His main goal was to improve the club and ensure that they avoid the relegation zone, especially in the early stages of the season. After eight games, Chippa have 12 points, and should they continue their good run, they could be in the fight for the top eight finish.
