Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco rubbed shoulders with the new Manchester United chief over the weekend.

The royal couple attended the second annual charity gala for the Princess Charlene Foundation of Monaco on Saturday.

​By changing his tax residence from Hampshire to Monaco, it is estimated this move saved him £4billion in tax.

However, Ratcliffe told The Times: "I didn’t move down there until I was well into retirement age.

He explained the reason for his move was that he "might live a bit longer in a warmer climate".

The charity event, which Ratcliffe attended over the weekend, was chaired by himself and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

It was held in the presence of Princess Charlene at the Ineos Club House in Courchevel.

The donations benefitted both the Princess Charlene Foundation of Monaco and the Courchevel Sports Club.

More than 200 guests attended the event, including Prince Alexander of Liechtenstein and his wife Princess Astrid of Liechtenstein.

Many personalities from the cultural, sports and economic worlds made themselves present.

Princess Charlene, 46, looked lovely for the event, choosing a £4,000 silver clutch bag and £900 heels.

She paired her accessories with a simple black streamlined trouser suit.

One fan wrote on Instagram: "She looks lovely. The outfit complements her nicely."

Another added: "She looks so pretty! Love the ensemble."
