POLOKWANE – Heavy traffic has been reported on the R71 this morning (April 7) between Polokwane and Moria.

The Department of Transport said despite the high volume reported, traffic is flowing with no reports of congestion.

Motorists are making their way to Moria as congregants of the St Engenas Zion Christian Church attend services for the first time in four years.

Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said slightly heavy traffic has also been reported on the N1 overnight and into early hours of this morning.

“There was congestion at the Kranskop Toll Plaza this morning, however, gates were opened to ease it,” she said.

Chuene said other areas within the province are reporting low to moderate traffic and all busy roads are being monitored by traffic officers on visible patrol.

“Motorists should continue to drive with caution, maintain a safe following distance, take regular breaks, and look out for pedestrians at all times. Dial 0800 006 694 to report traffic emergencies in Limpopo,” she said.
