FC Barcelona knows what it will cost to sign Erling Haaland after talks with the Manchester City star's camp according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

And when everything such as the player's release cause and salary are factored in, it appears that the Catalans will ultimately be priced out of a coup for the Norwegian, who is reportedly keen to move to La Liga in the coming years.

The turn of this one saw AS report that Haaland's release clause reduces to a fee around the $100 million mark in 2025 for clubs outside England.

According to SPORT, however, that information is not accurate.

Instead, any party that is interested in landing the Ballon d'Or hopeful will have to part with $186 million (€175 million), which is simply unaffordable for Barca before wages are considered.

Simultaneously, it is possible that City gets Haaaland to renew his contract and that the 23-year-old has a fresh and lower release clause inserted into new terms.

According to SPORT, however, Barca has "little or no confidence" that this possible outcome will be realized, meaning they will probably miss out on the marksman if a moneyed rival such as Real Madrid comes forward beforehand.

Madrid is believed to be on the verge of signing Haaland's generational rival Kylian Mbappe after telling his current club - and Barca's Champions League quarterfinals foes Paris Saint-Germain - that he will not renew his contract with them when it expires on June 30.

Separately, SPORT has reported that Mbappe could announce the transfer himself in the coming days.

Haaland has previously been tipped as a 'Plan B' for Madrid if they weren't able to land Mbappe, but sources such as AS report that it could be possible for president Florentino Perez to pull off both 'Galactico' signings.

With Endrick's move from Palmeiras already confirmed, however, Haaland would face positional competition from the 17-year-old Brazil international at the Bernabeu.

Back at Barca, it is true that they will need a striker to succeed Robert Lewandowksi, who they have an agreement with until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

Endrick's compatriot and fellow teen promise Vitor Roque has already been brought in, but Laporta might want a marquee signing to coincide with the club's 125th anniversary and the reopening of the renovated Camp Nou.
