Young Famous and African Season 2 Reactions: Bonang and ...

20 May 2023

Premiering on May 19, 2023, Netflix’s Young Famous and African Season 2 reactions on Twitter are rolling out in full speed. Being the first African reality TV series on the OTT platform, it had already garnered a lot of attention in March 2022 with its first season. Now, with Season 2 created by Peace Hyde and Martin Asare Amankwa and produced by Hyde along with Adelaide Joshua-Hill, the series has welcomed many of its old flames in addition to introducing some new faces.

Starring Khanyi Mbau, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, Diamond Platnumz, Innocent Idibia, Nadia Nakai, Zari, Swanky Jerry, Naked DJ, Andile Ncube, Kayleigh Schwark, Bonang Matheba, Fantana, Luis Munana, Sebabatso Mothibi, and Rosette Ncwana, the show ostensibly looks not only at romantic swings like other reality TV titles, but it also focusses on the careers of famous entertainers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania.

As expected of the second instalment, the drama is back and keeping audiences around the world entertained regardless of how petty and shallow it all may be. With some cast members pissed at each, others throwing glances and switching their flirt on, and looking their expensive selves, the series’ cringeworthy content keeps giving. Gen-Z’s slang of “spilling the tea” works well with shows like this. Ultimately making for a vicarious guilty pleasure watch, Young Famous and African Season 2 pulled the viewers in first with Swanky and Annie’s drama.

It was then followed by Bonang Matheba being at the centre of every gossip fire. While some swore by her antics, the other section of viewers couldn’t help but laugh everything off. Other than the ever-brewing drama, netizens have also been looking out for Luis, as his whole family situation left them emotional and teary-eyed.

Additionally, if some thought of the reality TV sequel as a worthy follow-up, then their opinions were balanced off by the exact opposite thoughts that claimed it to be just as cringey as ever. From discussing every possible exaggerated theatrics to breaking down the characters present in the “soap opera”-tic storyline, many old-timers decided to watch the second round of the reality series and stayed invested in the tittle-tattle that took centre stage as expected. Here’s how the people watching the latest premiere reacted to it.

I feel so bad for Luis. That’s not a church. Who does that? Cutting someone off from his family like that is wicked #YoungFamousAndAfrican

There is something seriously wrong with Swanky this season Khanyi was right. He was okay with Diamond moving from Zari to Nadia to Fantasia but its a problem when Luis does something similar, also he hears his own things, what people say is not what he hears #YoungFamousAndAfrican

Bonang expected everyone to worship the ground she walks on, unfortunately everyone in that group is successful in their own right. Same thing they told Zari last season. Friends not fans.#YoungFamousAndAfrican
