Mailula Assists & AB Sent Off As Wydad Drop Points - iDiski Times
Wydad Athletic Club missed the chance to move second in the Botola Pro after a 2-2 draw with ASFAR at the Stade Municipal Kenitra on Thursday evening.
In an entertaining rivalry played out in Kenitra, the home side took the lead as early as the fifth minute through their captain Mohamed Rabie Hrimat.
However, Wydad pegged them back with some fine attacking sequences and netted a quickfire double from Mohamed Moufid and Mohamed Rayhi, with Cassius Mailula setting up the equaliser and his side in control after 20 minutes.
But as the game dragged on, ASFAR showed why they have been title contender for the past couple of seasons and used all their experience and cohesion to stifle the momentum gained by Rulani Mokwena’s side.
Youssef El Fahli found the equaliser five minutes into the second half when he profited from a howler of goalkeeper Youssef El Motie and slotted the ball into an empty net.
Dangerous on the counter, with their pace and ability to bring their wide players into the game with a direct style of play, Abdelmounaim Boutouil took one for the team and received his marching orders 15 minutes from time, to prevent a clear scoring chance.
The result remained 2-2 at full-time which did neither side a favour, with Wydad now one point behind Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra and seven behind league leaders RS Berkane who have a game in hand.
