Shin Tae-yong made a change up front for the match against Saudi Arabia. Marselino Ferdinan joined two other strikers, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Rafael Struick, in the starting eleven. He replaced Yakob Sayuri, who was the starter against Japan.

In midfield, Shin Tae-yong tasked Ivar Jenner and Thom Haye to anchor the side. They were supported by Calvin Verdonk and Sandy Walsh on the left and right wings. Nathan Tjoe-A-On, who started against Japan, was now on the bench.

First Half

The Indonesian national team was able to play aggressively in the opening minutes of the first half. Just two minutes into the game, Marselino Ferdinan had a great chance to score on a pass from Sandy Walsh. He was offside and his shot hit the post.

In the fifth minute, it was Ragnar Oratmangoen's turn. However, his shot was blocked by an Arab defender. It caused chaos in the Saudi Arabian box. Marselino Ferdinan took advantage of the bouncing ball but was unable to get his shot on target.

Moments later, Rafael Struick received a through ball from Ivar Jenner. He managed to beat the offside trap and the defender and found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Ahmed Ali Al Kassar. Unfortunately, his shot was blocked, resulting in a corner kick.

Indonesia broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Ragnar Oratmangoen, coming from the right side of the Saudi defense, sent a back pass into the box to Marselino. With no marker, Marselino unleashed a blistering shot into the top corner. The score was 1-0 to Indonesia.

After the goal, Saudi Arabia stepped up their attacks. However, the Green Falcons struggled to penetrate their opponents' defense. Mohammed Kannu's long-range effort was their only clear chance. His shot was saved by Maarten Paes.

Indonesia had a golden opportunity in stoppage time through Calvin Verdonk. After receiving a long pass from Thom Haye, Verdonk's volley went wide. The score remained 1-0 until the eighth minute.

First-half statistics showed Saudi Arabia's dominance. The Green Falcons had 74 percent of the possession and created six chances, but only one was on target. Indonesia had 26 percent of the possession and created nine chances, four of which were on target.

Second Half

Herve Renard made changes at the start of the second half. He brought on Abdullah Al Hamdan and Mohammed Al Qahtani. Saudi Arabia laid siege to the Indonesian defense, but Jay Idzes and his teammates withstood the pressure well.

Ironically, Indonesia had a chance in the 52nd minute when Ragnar Oratmangoen latched onto a pass from Sandy Walsh. His header was saved by goalkeeper Al Kassar. Five minutes later, Indonesia doubled their lead. On a counterattack, Calvin Verdonk sent a pass into the middle of the Saudi penalty area. Marselino received the pass and fired a shot. The shot was blocked by an opposing defender, but Marselino was able to recover the ball. His shot beat goalkeeper Al Kassar. The score was 2-0 to Indonesia.

With his team two goals down, Herve Renard made two substitutions, bringing on Al Juwayr and Al Shehri to replace Al Ghamdi and Feras Al Brikan. A clear chance came in the 71st minute through a header from Al Hamdan. However, his header was saved by Maarten Paes.

Shin Tae-yong came on in the second half. Nathan Tjoe-A-On replaced Thom Haye, who looked tired. Pratama Arhan and Yakob Sayuri came on for Sandy Walsh and Marselino, who looked injured.

The game heated up towards the end. Justin Hubner received a second yellow card after a foul. Shin Tae-yong made a substitution to make up for the shortage of players. Shayne Pattynama and Muhammad Ferrari replaced Struick and Oratmangoen.
