GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 6-4 MACHAC

The British No.1 seals victory in four sets after two hours and 32 minutes on No.1 Court.

The No.12 seed serves it out on his second match point to overcome his young, tricky Czech opponent.

BREAK! - NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 5-4 MACHAC

This time the British No.1 makes it his chance count!

The No.12 seed has two more bites at a break and secures it on the second opportunity with a low return Machac can’t handle.

Norrie will now serve for the match.

NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 4-4 MACHAC

This time it’s Norrie’s turn to live dangerously as he swats away two break points with clutch serving to keep his bid to get the job done in this set alive.

NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 3-4 MACHAC

The Czech isn’t going away. He appears to have a got a second wind after taking some salts and fluids to combat cramping.

Norrie will be frustrated as he again has a break point but fails to convert.

NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 3-3 MACHAC

The No.12 seed restores parity with an ace from deuce after initially blowing a 40-0 lead.

NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 2-3 MACHAC

Machac hangs on!

The Czech has lost quite a bit of power off that forehand wing as a result of that cramp issue from earlier, but he somehow fends off three break points to nudge the board in his favour, sealing the game with an ace.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! – SABALENKA 6-3 6-1 UDVARDY

Sabalenka kicks off her title bid with an impressive one hour and one minute victory over Hungary’s Udvardy. The No.2 seed was simply too powerful for her opponent, breaking to love to seal an emphatic passage into round two.

SABALENKA 6-3 5-1 UDVARDY

The World No.2 nails an eighth ace and winners 27 and 28 to back up the double break and move within a game of victory.

NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 2-2 MACHAC

All square. Norrie consolidates from deuce and will be keen to try and get this done in four now.

19.09

BREAK! – SABALENKA 6-3 4-1 UDVARDY

That may well be that. Sabalenka cranks up the heat at deuce and Udvardy crumbles with an avoidable error off the forehand to give the Belarusian the double break.

BREAK! - NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 1-2 MACHAC

Who was expecting this? Machac looked to be cramping at the end of Set 3 but it’s Norrie who drops a couple of levels and he pays an early price.

Machac opens with a hold to 30 and then grinds out a break from deuce.

Norrie presses for an instant break back and manages to crack the code despite the Czech producing a diving, stun volley that could well prove to be the best shot of the match.

SABALENKA 6-3 3-1 UDVARDY

Sabalenka wastes little time in consolidating with a rampant love hold.

BREAK! – SABALENKA 6-3 2-1 UDVARDY

There’s that big forehand once again and it’s Sabalenka who snares the first break of Set 2 after a hold apiece.

SET! – SABALENKA 6-3 UDVARDY

Rather fittingly, Sabalenka seals the 37-minute opener on her second set point with a forehand winner.

18.49

SET! - NORRIE 6-3 4-6 6-1 MACHAC

It’s a breadstick as Norrie serves out the set to love to regain the lead. Machac may well call the trainer here.

18.48

BREAK! - NORRIE 6-3 4-6 5-1 MACHAC

Norrie wins an intense backhand to backhand exchange on a second break point as Machac drops his racquet and rubs his hand. Is that cramp?

We will see, but what we do know is that Norrie has the double break and will now serve for the set.

SABALENKA 5-2 UDVARDY

Aryna makes short work of her latest service game, rattling through it for the loss of one point to move within one of taking the opening set.
