Moyes reserved some special praise for his opposite in his pre-match press conference.
“Mauricio Pochettino has been here before and knows the league well," said the Scotsman. "He’s very experienced now and it’s always good to go up against the best managers. He’s in that bracket.”

A London derby is never an easy game, especially between Chelsea and West Ham and Pochettino is expecting a stern test in east London.
"It's going to be tough. We know how they are going to play," he said. "They are beginning to change the shape but it's always going to be tough. All of the Premier League games will be difficult.
"They are a very good team doing a great job. Last season, they lifted a trophy, so they are very confident. For sure, it's going to be tough."
Here are the answers for those of you that got involved in our 'Played for both' game half an hour ago.

There are a lot of options for England, especially from the pre-Premier League era, so I have only included a selection but the rest are definitive.
Although initially expected to leave on loan to Crystal Palace, Lewis Hall is set to make a different move altogether.
Newcastle are now due to sign the 18-year-old on loan with a £28m ($35.6m) obligation to buy, in a deal which will also include £7m ($9m) in add-ons which Chelsea expect to be achieved.
Chelsea are under pressure to deal with FFP concerns and the sale of youth players effectively count as 'pure profit' on the books.
Not a bad fee for 658 minutes of Premier League football.

With age not on the side of Antonio or Ings and poor goal returns, West Ham need a striker solution.
Strangely, Moyes feels that he can solve the problem with Bowen, the scorer of the club's final goal of last season and first goal of this season.
"Jarrod is becoming our major goalscorer," said the West Ham boss. "There's a lot of talk about needing to buy a centre-forward but I'm going to see if Jarrod could do the job.
"He's got the instincts and the sharpness. Hull played him at centre-forward so it's not me trying to be a genius."
Both Chelsea and West Ham have had long-term striker issues.
Chelsea had two strikers in their squad for the draw against Liverpool, Nicolas Jackson started the game and looked sharp but it feels unwise to expect a large haul from such a raw talent. 20-year-old Mason Burstow was on the bench while summer signing Christopher Nkunku could be out until 2024.
Similarly, West Ham have parted with Gianluca Scamacca after just one season with him returning to Italy with Atalanta. Michail Antonio led the line against Bournemouth, with Danny Ings introduced later in the game. However, both players struggled for a consistent impact last season.

You only need one correct answer per nation but, if you've got more, bring 'em on. The more obscure, the better.
Meanwhile, here is the business that has been done at West Ham so far.

At different stages, it looked like they might have been putting on the red of Liverpool rather than the blue of Chelsea but, after managing to convince both players, they agreed long-term contracts in west London.
Liam Tharme looked at why they were both in-demand and what they will bring to Stamford Bridge — read it below.

While there are lots of new faces at Chelsea, there have also been plenty of departures over the course of the summer.

"He's performed to a very high level in the Premier League over the last decade, constantly producing good numbers season after season," said the West Ham manager.
"His leadership qualities are obviously another huge plus for us – he’ll be a big voice for us, someone who drives the team on from the middle of the pitch. We’re excited to get him up and running, for what will be another busy season on both the domestic and European front."
The big news from West Ham this week is the confirmation of Ward-Prowse's arrival.
A £30m signing from Southampton, the 28-year-old is part of the club's contingency plan to replace Declan Rice who left for Arsenal earlier in the summer.
His stand-out attribute is undoubtedly his ability to take set pieces, free-kicks in particular, but that does not define his game.
Roshane Thomas wrote about what he will bring to West Ham — check it out below.

The hurdles are already coming at Pochettino thick and fast in his first week of returning to the Premier League.
He was asked about the injury to James in his pre-match press conference.
"I think it's a sad moment because he's our captain," said the Chelsea boss. "He was so excited to be a captain, full of energy.
"I think we are going to assess him day-by-day as well as possible. For sure, he is going to become stronger than he was, we are going to help him to become stronger than before."
When James left the pitch early against Liverpool, Pochettino claimed that it was purely tiredness rather than the injury that supporters were worried about.
However, when he returned to training, the new captain did pick up an injury and the hamstring issue threatens to keep him out of action for up to a month.
Chalobah also sustained a similar injury while training this week, having just stepped up his recovery from a previous one. With Chelsea willing to listen to offers for the centre-back earlier in the transfer window, this set back could affect a departure before the end of the month.

For those of you hoping to watch today's game, here are your options.
UK – Sky SportsU.S. – USA NetworkCanada – fuboTV CanadaAustralia – Optus SportThe Mauricio Pochettino era at Chelsea kicked off with a positive performance against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
They had to come from behind after Luis Diaz put the visitors in front in the first half, but a debut goal from Axel Disasi soon got the hosts back on level terms.
From there, Chelsea had much more of the ball and, with the chances they created, should have stolen all three points but they had to settle for a draw.
An opening day trip to Bournemouth might have been viewed as a relatively easy task in recent task but, as West Ham made the trip last weekend, they were considered underdogs by many.
Andoni Iraola's appointment has inspired plenty of confidence as well as a few marquee signings, but their visitors were able to find the opening goal.
An excellent curling strike from Jarrod Bowen left Neto with no chance and set West Ham on their way to victory. Although, with less than 10 minutes left, Dominic Solanke — a rumoured target for Moyes' side this summer — took the ball round Alphonse Areola and finished into the empty net to earn his side a point.
New season, same injury problems for Chelsea.
Newly-announced club captain Reece James will miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury that he suffered in training at the beginning of the week.
He joins Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Marcus Bettinelli on the treatment table — none of them will feature today.
