OXFORD UNITED
The U's will be looking to build on Tuesday's win over Hull City as they seek their first away victory of the season. In addition to the players already missing, they will be without Ben Nelson, who was forced off with an injury in the Hull game.
United's last win at Vicarage Road was in 1993, when a Chrissy Allen goal earned Oxford a 1-0 win in the final game of the season.
WATFORD
The Hornets are seventh in the Championship and have yet to be beaten at home, but after putting six past Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday, they lost 1-0 at Swansea on Tuesday.
Manager Tom Cleverley has been in charge at Vicarage Road since April and he said ahead of the game: “Football is about pressure, and this is where we want to be. We should all want to play for high stakes, and that is what tomorrow night is all about. It’s a pivotal game for us, and could be a significant one for our ambitions going forward. With us losing on Tuesday, it makes the game even bigger.
“Home has been a real source of points for us, and there is a feeling of confidence and belief that we’re building something special. We have to produce a performance to continue that. I’ve let the players know this is a huge game for us. We’ve had eight away games and six at home so far, and this game is a good chance for us to solidify a good start.
“I sat down with the media at the start of the season, and I think I said then we’d reassess around the November international break. Here we are, at that point, with a chance to win and stay in the top six. I think that will be a significant result towards where our ambitions lie.”
