More heavy snowfall has been reported on the N3 Toll Route along Van Reenen’s Pass.

The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) says a total road closure remains in effect between Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal and Harrismith in the Free State.

Icy conditions, wet weather, and poor visibility are also being reported along other sections of the route.

This is causing dangerous driving conditions from KwaZulu-Natal through the Free State, the southern parts of Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

N3TC has advised road users to avoid travel to the region.

Due to heavy snowfall, ice, and rain, multiple roads in KwaZulu-Natal are closed or experiencing slow traffic.

Meanwhile, the Penhoek Pass on the N6 between Jamestown and Komani in the Eastern Cape is partially opened to light vehicles.

However, the Barkley Pass on the R58 between Elliot & Barkley as well as the R58 road from Elliot towards Ngcobo are still closed due to heavy snow.

Motorists are advised to postpone their trips until further notice or use alternative routes.
