Alex Pereira (c) vs Jamahal Hill - light heavyweight title

Pereira and Hill both come out with low kicks, probing their opponent. Both are dangerous men and long and tall, so they are giving each other the respect they deserve.

Pereira lands a huge left hand and Hill is out like a spark! That was huge! Out of nowhere and Hill's eyes rolled back in his head!

And still: Zhang Weili wins by UD

All three judges score it 49-45 for Zhang Weili. That seems a little wide to me. I felt like Yan Xiaonan took two of those rounds. But hey, what are you going to say?

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 01:04EDT14/04/2024

Weili knows that she needs to be on the floor to win here and she takes Xiaonan down quickly. Grappling is where the champ has a clear advantage and it is a credit to Xiaonan that she has been able to stay out of real trouble on the floor since that moment in the first.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 01:01EDT14/04/2024

Weili goes in for a low kick and Xiaonan lands a straight right hand that knocks the champ onto her backside. They get into a grapple on the floor and Weili gets on top, shifting the momentum completely and now it is Xiaonan who is just hanging on for dear life.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 00:54EDT14/04/2024

Xiaonan lands a solid front side kick to the stomach of Weili and sends her sprawling. Weili looks tired and Xiaonan drops her with a right hand. Now Weili is on her back kicking away and keeping Xiaonan from jumping on top of her.

Weili comes in for a punch and Xiaonan lands a counter right directly on the chin and Weili's knees buckled! They grapple and go to the floor again, but this time it is Xiaonan on top.

A beautiful leg sweep takes Weili to the floor again.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 00:49EDT14/04/2024

Weili lands a right hand and gets Xiaonan on the floor immediately. She knows that she can win here. Xiaonan does a better job of getting onto her back and staying out of the choke hold.

Weili manages to mount and unload punches on the head of Xiaonan. This should be stopped!

Oh my! Now Xiaonan fights out of it and gets back to her feet! The round ends with these two warrior ladies trading punches in the middle of the octagon.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 00:42EDT14/04/2024

Zhang Weili (c) vs Yan Xiaonan - women's strawweight title

Xiaonan lands a nice right hand to start things off and as she comes in for more, Weili catches her witha counter left. Beautiful!

A big leg sweep from Xiaonan sends them both to the floor. Her preference is to fight on her feet, so she lets her opponent up again, but that was eye catching. A huge left hook from Xiaonan sends Weili sprawling for a second.

Weili lands a nice right hand and Xiaonan holds on to catch her breath. Weili flips her onto the mat and gets on top of herand gets her into a choke. She was out cold as the round ended! Wow! It will continue! She was never ruled out so the fight goes on.

Last second KO

With one tick left on the clock

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 00:08EDT14/04/2024

And the new: Max Holloway wins by KO!

That spinning kick lands again from Holloway and Goethje looks to be out of ideas. Holloway lands a huge right and Gaethje is in huge trouble here! He covers up and tries to weather it but he is in problems.

Holloway tries that spinning kick again, this time coming up empty. Gaethje sweep kicks Holloway off his feet. They stand and trade and with three seconds left a huge right hand knocks Gaethje spark out! He is gone!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 00:06EDT14/04/2024

Gaethje lands a nice combo to start things off and Holloway comes back with a huge right hand that wobbles Gaethje. A big righ hand drops Holloway and now Gaethe is pressing the advantage.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:59EDT13/04/2024

Holloway lands a heavy right hand and Gaethje goes to the floor. He jumps back up and lands a low kick and Holloway's left leg is so swollen. Huge!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:53EDT13/04/2024

That last kick looks to have broken Gaethje's nose. He is having real trouble breathing out of it. As they throw punches, Holloway pokes Gaethje in the eye. Now he can't see out of it. They bring in the doctor and he says that it is ok to continue.

Another eye poke but in the other eye! Dear me, Gaethje is in trouble. Broken nose, both eyes have been poked.

Gaethje lands a nice leg kick to that bruised leg and it is swelling now. As the round ends, they both land heavy strikes.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:47EDT13/04/2024

Justin Gaethje vs Max Holloway - "BMF" title - lightweights

Holloway lands a great one two to the face, but Gaethje comes back with a solid leg kick that leaves a big bruise on Holloway's leg. Holloway comes in with a left hook that stuns Gaethje. They probe each other and Holloway lands another heavy right hand. The round ends with a huge spin kick to Gaethje's nose that sent him hurtling.

Arman Tsarukyan wins by SD

The judges ruled it:

29-28 Olivera

29-28 Tsarukyan

29-28 Tsarukyan

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:11EDT13/04/2024

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:10EDT13/04/2024

My word! That fight could go either way.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:09EDT13/04/2024

Tsarukyan is immediately in the clench and  Olivera is in a little trouble. He gets out of it and they go back to boxing. As Tsarukyan grabs Olivera to take him down, Olivera grabs onto his head. Tsarukyan is in a headlock but on top and now Olivera has to let go. Tsarukyan is now on Olivera's back. He can't get ahold of Olivera cleanly and Olivera flips him! Now Olivera is on top and has Tsarukyan in a guillotine! The round ends in that state!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:08EDT13/04/2024

The round begins with both men hugging and showing that there is no hard feelings over the illegal kick. Tsarukyan lands a nice jab and then a peach of a right hand.

They come together and Tsarukyan throws Olivera to the mat, but a quick scramble by Olivera sees them both back on their feet. Tsarukyan gets Olivera back on the floor in no time.

Tsarukyan is throwing heavy elbows and Olivera is cut now! There is blood streaming from his eye.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 23:02EDT13/04/2024

Arman Tsarukyan vs Charles Oliveira - lightweights

A perfect leg sweep by Olivera drops Tsarukyan in the first ten seconds. Trying to get up from it, Tsarukyan gets himself into a choke hold and is in real trouble! Tsarukyan gets out of it but is getting the worst of it on the floor right now.

Now he flips Olivera and it is Tsarukyan who is on top! He throws some big elbows and in throwing his way out of it, Olivera kicks Tsarukyan in the face. It is an illegal kick and so the referee breaks them apart and gets Tsarukyan to speak to the doctor.

It is ok to continue, and Tsarukyan agrees to resume the position. They go back to the floor with Olivera on his back.

He works his way back to his feet and they round ends with both squared off.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 22:56EDT13/04/2024

Bo Nickal wins by submission!

Nickal goes in for the leg but Brundage gets free of him. Nickal is not fazed though and gets another grip on him, getting Brundage back to the floor. Nickal manages to get onto Brundage's back and apply the choke hold. Brundage has no choice but to tap out.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 22:32EDT13/04/2024

Bo Nickal vs Cody Brundage - middleweights

This fight gets started like greased lightning, with both men going in for huge shots immediately. They end up in a clench and Nickal throws Brundage to the floor, but he pops straight back up! Nickal stays with it though and gets his way onto the back of Brundage. As Nickal tries to get a choke hold applied, Brundage isolates his left hand and keeps him from doing any damage.

As the second round gets going, Prochazka goes off and gets a big stoppage, winning by TKO! What a flip that was!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 22:16EDT13/04/2024

Aleksandar Rakic vs Jiri Prochazka - light heavyweights

Rakic comes out trying the leg sweeps and Prochazka is taking a battering to that left leg. Rakic keeps working the legs and it takes its toll. Prochazka is switching stances to protect that now bruised leg, but Rakic just goes to work on the other one. Rakic looks sensational. He throws a nice right hand that lands cleanly.

UFC 300 - Figure 3

Prochazka comes back with a huge right hand and Rakic is stunned momentarily.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 21:43EDT13/04/2024

Aljamain Sterling wins by UD!

That was a straightforward shutout for Aljamain Sterling

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 21:27EDT13/04/2024

Sterling goes straight in for the takedown, but Kattar avoids it, staying on his feet. They clench against the edge of the octagon and eventually they go to ground.

Sterling works his way around and gets Kattar around the back, lifting and trying to slam him to the floor. Sterling jumps on him and starts punching away. Kattar manages to stop that angle and they go back into a grapple. The round ends and Sterling completely dominated that fight.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 21:25EDT13/04/2024

Sterling immediately gets Kattar onto the floor again, that is five takedowns in the fight so far! Again, Kattar is doing a great job of keeping Sterling from taking full advantage of the grappling advantage.

Kattar works his way back to his feet and they box, but only for a moment before Sterling takes him down again. Kattar is not allowing Sterling to set any type of grip on him, and the round ends.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 21:19EDT13/04/2024

Aljamain Sterling vs Calvin Kattar - featherweights

Sterling throws a nice right hand to get things started but Kattar is not fazed by it. Sterlings grabs onto a leg and gets Kattar onto the floor quickly. Kattar does a good job of keeping Sterling from really getting a good grip on him. Kattar is able to battle his way back to his feet, with cuts on his elbow and back to show for it.

Sterling takes him down again, clearly feeling that his shot at winning this fight is on the floor. There isn't time to make anything of it as the round ends.

True story

It was incredible

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 20:48EDT13/04/2024

Kayla Harrison wins by Submission!

Harrison is straight onto the attack, landing a big head kick and getting Holm into a head lock. She sweeps the legs and gets Holm onto the mat again. Harrison is on top and on her back. She applies the rear choke and Holm taps out!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 20:46EDT13/04/2024

Kayla Harrison vs Holly Holm - bantamweights

Harrison is the bigger of the two women and she grabs Holm and leg sweeps her, flipping her to the floor. Holm is too experienced to get tied up and they get to their feet. Again, Harrison takes Holm to the floor and starts to throw punches, landing big shots while they are on the mat. Harrison is landing huge shots here! Punches and elbows and Holm is not out of this in any way. She locks her legs on and tries to keep Harrison's punches from taking full effect.

Lopes wins by TKO

The stoppage

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 20:19EDT13/04/2024

Diego Lopes vs Sodiq Yusuff - featherweights

The round gets underway to a furious start from Lopes who drops Yusuff with a stiff uppercut and then pours on the fury, giving Yusuff no room to breathe. Yusuff gets back to his feet, but Lopes drops him again and just stays on top of him, throwing punch after punch until the referee waves it off!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 20:18EDT13/04/2024

What a stoppage

Great punch

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 20:00EDT13/04/2024

Moicano wins by TKO

After just surviving the first round, Moicano realizes that his strength is on the floor and takes Turner down. The crowd boo as the grappling is notched up a gear. George Foreman said that boxing is like jazz, the better it is the less people like it. Well, grappling is like jazz too.

Moicano switches tack as he gets the mount on top of Turner and just tees off on him, landing punch after punch until the referee calls it off.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:57EDT13/04/2024

Jalin Turner vs Renato Moicano - lightweights

Turner lands two quick front kicks that take Moicano's wind from him. As he recovers his composure, Moicano takes Turner to the floor. As Turner is increasingly desperate to get to his feet, Moicano finds increasingly better positions, keeping Turner on the floor.

As Turner finally manages to get to his feet, Moicano comes in for a punch, but Turner lands a peach of a left hand to the face which wobbles Moicano! He is all over the place! Turner doesn't press it too hard but Moicano is in real trouble.

Jessica Andrade wins by SD!

A split decision win for Jessica Andrade was probably a fair view of the fight. She dictated the pace for much of the fight and was easily the more aggressive of the two. Much respect to Marina Rodriguez though.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:41EDT13/04/2024

Andrade is best on the floor and she wastes no time in just grabbing onto Rodriguez and throwing her to the mat. Rodriguez manages to get back up to her feet but she is out of ideas here.

Rodriguez comes forward with a jump kick and Andrade catches it. It was a trap and Rodriguez gets Andrade's head in a standing choke hold. Neither can really take advantage of the situation and Andrade eventually works out of it.

Andrade jumps on Rodriguez with punches, each one loaded for bear. The round ends with both women toe to toe.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:36EDT13/04/2024

Andrade lands a nice right hand to start the round and Rodriguez is trying to stay further out of range to take advantage of her advantage in height and reach.

They stay on their feet and this is where Rodriguez has the advantage, throwing wonderful combinations, feinting with jabs and landing that right hand. With one minute left in the round, Andrade just throws style out of the window, and bullrushes Rodriguez, eventually putting pressure on her.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:30EDT13/04/2024

Marina Rodriguez vs Jessica Andrade - women's strawweights

Both women are wary of the other, throwing kicks and following them up with a punch, but wary of how the other can come back with something big. Rodriguez gets overzealous and allows Andrade in close. A leg sweep takes her down and Andrade jumps on top of her and tries to figure out how to get to Rodriguez here on the floor. Rodriguez is still fighting from her back and Andrade is having a tough time finding a way to get her into trouble.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:23EDT13/04/2024

Brutal finish

Refuses to quit

Bobby Green wins by UD!

There was no doubt how this would be judged, but it was a unanimous decision to give the victory to Bobby Green. That was a bloodbath! Bobby Green was amazing and while Jim Miller is a warrior, the speed, the skill, and the victory was all one way traffic.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:09EDT13/04/2024

Miller is just a target now, he can't see out of that right eye and Green is landing punches at will. Why Miller is still trying to stand and box with this opponent is beyond me.

Green is landing everything that he wants to, throwing hands, front kicks, and just beating Miller up. There is no two ways about it. Green is so confident, not fearing anything coming back, and as if on cue, Miller lands a huge left hand and Green is hurt! He is staggered and eventually holds on to get his wits about him again.

Green lands three solid punches and Miller goes down! Green jumps on him and begins to punch, trying to end this now! Miller is unwilling to give up, taking some serious punishment! Somehow, he manages to survive to the hooter.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:06EDT13/04/2024

Green is tapping away, throwing that front kick, knees, and those lighting quick hands, eventually opening a cut under Miller's right eye. Blood is pouring everywhere. Miller is looking less confident in his attacks and begins to back out, looking like he want to end this.

Green stays on the attack, cutting distance down now, and Miller's right eye is swollen nearly shut.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 19:00EDT13/04/2024

Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller - lightweights

Green comes out with his hands very low, but he has quick feet and manages to land front kicks before Miller lands a left hand flush that sends Green tumbling backwards to the fence. Green recovers and they square off again in the center of the octagon.

Incredibly, for someone who works with their hands so low, basically by his side, Green is controlling the fight. He has blazing hand speed and manages to slip in counter shots that stop Miller dead in his tracks each time he comes forward.

Eventually, Mmiller lands a solid left hand and Green is shook! Miller goes on the attack and lands another left. Green is out of sorts here! Again, Green lashes out a right hand to stop Miller's attack and allow time to recover. Somehow, they make it to the end of the round.

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 18:54EDT13/04/2024

The tap out

Great submission

Deiveson Figueiredo WINS!

The round starts with an instant grapple as Figuereido takes Garbrandt to the mat and while they trade punches and try to reposition themselves several times, once Figuereido gets behind Garbrandt, it is only a matter of time. And true to form, Garbrandt taps out, submitting to the rear choke!

Jeffrey MayPosted at: 18:32EDT13/04/2024

Deiveson Figueiredo vs Cody Garbrandt - bantamweights

Both men come out cagey and the best early blow came from Deiveson Figueiredo as he landed a solid front kick, sendiing Cody Garbrandt stumbling back, but he quickly regained his composure and went in with a hammer punch that caught Figueiredo flush.

Figueiredo caught Garbrandt's leg and took him to the floor with ten seconds left in the round, but could not complete the move before the end of the round.
