UCL league phase: Inter and Liverpool have highest chance to finish in top 8
Opta highlights that Inter and Liverpool have the highest probability of finishing in the top 8 of the league phase of the Champions League, while Milan and Juventus will likely get a spot in the knockout round play-offs.
An Opta study – reported by Gazzetta – finds that Inter and Liverpool will likely finish among the top eight teams in the Champions League table for the group phase and gain direct access to the Round of 16.
According to the study, the Reds have a 98,89% chance of finishing in the top eight, followed by Inter at 89,55%.
Serie A leaders Atalanta, one of the unbeaten Champions League teams this season, has a 57,57% chance of finishing in the top eight. La Dea will meet Real Madrid and Barcelona in the last three rounds, starting with the Merengues this evening.

Juventus and Milan are currently out of the top eight with eight and nine points, respectively.
The Rossoneri’s chances of finishing in the top eight are below 50% (36,42%), but they are still higher than their domestic rivals’ (just 7,69%).

Milan’s chances are 62,93%, while Juventus are set at 86,72%.
Bologna, the fifth Serie A club in the Champions League this season, have only collected one point in the opening five rounds.
The Rossoblu have no chance of finishing in the top 19 and just a 1,94% chance of qualifying for the knockout round playoffs.
