Standard Bank says Brazil was not the sole source of fraud attempts that prompted scores of its clients to vent on social media platforms like X, with the financial malfeasance stemming from "multiple" international jurisdictions.

Numerous clients complained on X that they had suffered fraud or attempted fraud that appeared to hail from Brazil, with the litany of posts ultimately prompting the lender to deny on Tuesday that it had suffered a systems breach. 

"Standard Bank experiences, like all institutions across the globe, fraud attempts from multiple jurisdictions. This trend or pattern is no different," the bank said in an emailed response to questions.
