'I blame the coach': Siwahla on Cape Town Spurs struggles
Former Ajax Cape Town [now known as Cape Town Spurs] star Mkhanyiseli Siwahla has shared his opinion on the Urban Warriors’ current struggles in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The Cape club’s woes continued last Friday, as their winless streak stretched to a worrying 10 matches after another defeat [2-1] against Pretoria Callies.
Overall, the Ernst Middendorp-coached side finds themselves in position 14 with 10 points after 14 outings, just one point ahead of relegation-threatened Limpopo club, Venda FC.
In those 14 matches, Spurs only managed to win two, draw four, and lose eight under the tutelage of the German mentor, Middendorp.
WHAT MKHANYISELI SIWAHLA SAID ABOUT CAPE TOWN SPURS’ STRUGGLESThe 36-year-old, Siwahla, stated that whatever his former club is currently going through is because of the coach, citing that everything starts with the coach.
He went on to emphasise that if the coach isn’t doing things right, the club is bound to find itself in unfortunate situations like that.

“First of all, I love the team. I grew up there and I did almost everything at that club. I got so much respect for the club,” said Siwahla in a recent interview with FARPost.
“But, everything starts with the coach. If the coach doesn’t do the right things, the team will find itself in such a situation.
“For me, I blame the coach. The coach, I think is the one who made the team struggle, and that is my opinion.”
CAPE TOWN SPURS’ NEXT ASSIGNMENTSpurs’ next league assignment will be against Casric Stars at home on Friday, 10 January 2025. The game will kick off at 19:30.
The side will be hoping to turn things around and do everything in their power to avoid facing the chop at the end of the campaign.
