Katlego Chauke famously known as ‘Shebeshxt’ in the music world was sentenced to seven years in prison on 8 May for attempted murder.

Shebeshxt was arrested over the long weekend

According to Youth of Tsomo Shebeshxt was supposed to be performing in Pretoria during the long weekend at multiple clubs. But event organisers had to issue an apology to their patrons after they found out that the Amapiano star had been arrested.

As the video clip of Shebeshxt being arrested went viral the entire long weekend.

According to the statement released on Shebeshxt’s instagram page by his management he was caught for attempted murder. The 23-year-old Limpopo-born star was sentenced by the Lebowagomo Magistrates Court.

“Shebeshxt played an enormous role in Limpopo music genre and had many fans across the nation. He was generally known for his hit called sh*t malume and Cinderella amongst others. It is with great sadness that we won’t have more upcoming hits like these for a while.

We would like to thank supporters and fans of Katlego (Shebeshxt) for the support shown so far.

His last words before going to prison cell were, ‘O botse ma 2k ka ba rata, and ba tswele pele go twerkela music waka, jele eno tshwana ele five-star hotel mo go nna,’

With all this being said, all bookings are closed until further notice,” read the statement from Shebeshxt’s management team.

According to Opera, the talented performer was a notorious hoodlum who turned to other crimes after being fired by his dad and spending time alone with his mother.

Shebeshxt claimed that during a Limpopo recording interview, it was because he lacked a father figure to guide him, he was raised by criminals and street chemists.

Katlego Chauke, as he was initially known, seems to have gone back to his old criminal ways after being allegedly apprehended by police in Lebowakgomo between SJ Van Der Merwe Specialized Secondary School and Waterberg TVET school, along with his companions, after being found in possession of illegal firearms and drugs.
