Bayern Munich got their UEFA Champions League campaign back up and running as Jamal Musiala's header proved decisive in a 1-0 victory over Benfica.
Vincent Kompany's side lost their last two matches in the competition after opening their campaign with a 9-2 hammering of Dinamo Zagreb.
But they bounced back at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, with Musiala providing the all-important goal, nodding home after being teed up by Harry Kane.
The Bundesliga side have provided a strong response to their 4-1 defeat by Barcelona last time out in the Champions League, scoring 13 goals without reply in the four matches since.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Ligue 1 side Brest rose to fourth in the league phase standings with a 2-1 victory over Sparta Prague.
Edimilson Fernandes' 37th-minute strike started the charge in the Czech capital, the former West Ham United midfielder slammed home a volley after a loose ball from a corner sat up nicely.
Sparta midfielder Kaan Kairinen then turned the ball into his own net 10 minutes from time to establish a two-goal cushion, a goal which proved decisive as Victor Olatunji got one back for the hosts in stoppage-time.
The result continues Brest's impressive start to the European competition, picking up their third victory from their opening four matches, while also securing a 1-1 draw with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman netted his fifth goal from four games to help Atalanta to 2-0 victory over Stuttgart.
The Ballon d'Or nominee raced into the box to fire home Charles De Ketelaere's low cross, and Nicolo Zaniolo made sure of victory as Gian Piero Gasperini's side claimed their seventh triumph from eight matches.
In the other action, RB Salzburg ended their torrid European run, picking up their first victory of the campaign with a 3-1 win over 10-man Feyenoord.
SHAKHTAR CLAIM FIRST UCL WIN
Shakhtar Donetsk claimed their first UEFA Champions League victory of the 2024/25 campaign, as Heorhiy Sudakov played a starring role in a 2-1 win over Young Boys.
Young Boys took the lead on 27 minutes as Kastriot Imeri's deflected effort trickled home after Cheikh Niasse picked the ball off Artem Bondarenko.
But Shakhtar rallied and levelled the game just four minutes later. Sudakov was found in behind the Young Boys backline, and picked out Oleksandr Zubkov, who tapped into an empty net.
Ten minutes later, Sudakov emphatically put the Ukrainian side ahead, capping off a fine move with a precise, low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
It was a welcome victory for Shakhtar, who had previously lost to Arsenal and Atalanta after drawing with Bologna in their opener.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa's perfect record in Europe's premier competition came to a crashing halt, as a bizarre Tyrone Mings handball allowed Hans Vanaken to score from the penalty spot as Club Brugge claimed a 1-0 victory.
