1,000th day of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine: Committee of Ministers declaration
To mark the 1,000th day of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers has adopted the following declaration:
“For 1,000 days, Russia has been pursuing a war of aggression against Ukraine in flagrant violation of international law, including the United Nations Charter and the Statute of the Council of Europe.
For 1,000 days, the Ukrainian people have endured immense suffering; thousands of Ukrainian children have been illegally deported, thousands of innocent civilians have been killed or injured, and millions more have been forced to flee their homes, being temporarily displaced in Ukraine and seeking shelter across Europe.
For 1,000 days, we have been inspired by the resilience and courage shown by the Ukrainian people in defence of their country and for all those who believe in the values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
For 1,000 days, we in the Council of Europe have been providing Ukraine with multifaceted support to help Ukraine cope with the dramatic consequences of Russia's war of aggression.
Today, we remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders and to continue working with our international partners to ensure the reconstruction and recovery of the country, as well as to hold Russia accountable for its crimes and to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
