The Rugby World Cup 2023 starts on September 8 and runs till October 28 with hosts France taking on New Zealand at the Stade de France in the opener. The opening match will start at 12:45 AM (Indian Standard Time) on September 9 and it will be live streamed.

It’s the 10th men's Rugby World Cup and the second to be held by France after 2007. Over the course of six weeks, 48 matches will be contested at nine venues, with the final taking place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Rugby World Cup 2023 teams

There will be 20 teams competing at the Rugby World Cup 2023. South Africa are the defending champions while Chile will be making their Rugby World Cup debut.

South Africa and New Zealand are the most successful teams at the Rugby World Cup with three titles each. Australia have won the title twice and England once.

The 20 teams have been divided into four groups, where they will play each other in a round-robin format.

Pool A: New Zealand, France, Italy, Uruguay, Namibia Pool B: South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Tonga, Romania Pool C: Wales, Australia, Fiji, Georgia, Portugal Pool D: England, Japan, Argentina, Samoa, Chile

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
