Serie A: Roma vs Atalanta – probable line-ups - Football Italia

7 Jan 2024

Roma and Atalanta are gearing up for a key battle as both teams desperately fight for a Champions League qualification spot.

The match between the Giallorossi and la Dea kicks off at 19.45 UK time at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Despite a handful of injuries and limited options on the bench, Jose Mourinho’s side have done well to recover from their early wobbles this season and the team currently sit just outside the European spots, being five points behind fourth place Fiorentina.

Chris Smalling, Houssem Aouar, Tammy Abraham and Renato Sanches are all out injured for the Giallorossi.

Atalanta have looked a little inconsistent this term but still picked up enough positive results to put themselves in contention for European qualification, sitting a point above Roma after 18 matches.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are without the injured Rafael Toloi, Hans Hateboer and El Bilal Toure.

When these two teams battled it out last campaign, Atalanta secured a 1-0 win away and a 3-1 win at home.

Roma (3-5-2): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Cristante, Llorente; Kristensen, Bove, Paredes, Pellegrini, Zalewski; Dybala, Lukaku.

Atalanta (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Djimsiti, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Koopmeiners; Scamacca, De Ketelaere.
