FC Barcelona will beat Real Madrid to a young pearl also wanted by Manchester City according to Relevo, which cited anonymous sources.

Marcos Parreigo is a left-footed midfielder who currently features for Rayo Vallecano.

Aged 18, he is currently playing for the Madrid club in his second year of the juvenil category in Spain's grassroots system.

Perhaps down to the relative close proximity of the two La Liga outfits in the Spanish capital, Parreigo has caught the attention of Barca's bitter rivals Real Madrid once again.

Parreigo used to play for Los Blancos in its La Fabrica youth teams but was let go because of what was deemed to be poor physical strength.

Rayo gave him another chance to possibly turn professional and he has "exploded" in Vallecas reports SPORT.

Because of this, Real Madrid wants to get Parreigo back "at all costs" with Premier PINC League giants Manchester City also "amazed by the creative midfielder's vision of the game and left-footed strike".

According to Relevo, however, Parreigo has his heart set on a move to the Blaugrana with SPORT confirming that he has visited the club's Joan Gamper CT headquarters.

SPORT did its homework on Parreigo and discovered that he is a "very intelligent boy" who comes from a "sensible family" that keeps his feet on the ground.

Not just chasing the football dream blindly and forming a Plan B to fall back on, Parreigo "combines football perfectly with his studies" and reportedly plans to start a career in telecommunications engineering next year.

That might not be necessary if the midfielder signs for the Catalans and manages to progress to the reserve Barca Atletic outfit or even the first team in the future.

Parreigo could join the club at a time when there is a shortage of options in the center of the park because of a litany of injuries to stars including Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Gavi.

He wouldn't be expected to head straight into Xavi Hernandez's squad, however, with U-17 World Cup winner Noah Darvich one of many talents in the Barca Atletic fold waiting for his chance in the elite.

By landing Parreigo, though, Barca could score a rare win over City in the transfer market after the Abu Dhabi club beat them to Claudio Echeverri earlier this year.

As for Madrid, they no longer consider Barca realistic opposition in the transfer market according to MARCA but it is evident that many players are still interested in one day plying their trade in Camp Nou.
