Galaxy hand Arrows seventh successive loss

TS Galaxy secured a late 2-0 win over Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership match at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, Durban on Saturday afternoon.

The victory saw the Rockets climb up to the 11th spot on the league standings and they will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they play host to Chippa United on 30 December.

Arrows, on the other hand, slipped down to the eighth spot on the standings and they will be desperate to snap their seven-match winless run when they take on Moroka Swallows away on 30 December.

The match got off to a lively start and it was the Rockets who threatened first in the 10th minute. Higor Vidal was able to find Kamogelo Sebelebele whose header was saved by goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana.

At the other end, keeper Fiacre Ntwari was also called into action in the 13th minute. The Rwanda international denied Bradley Cross with a decent save and the score was 0-0 halftime following an evenly contested first-half.

The two teams struggled to create chances in the early stages of the second-half and Mabhuti Khenyeza refreshed his attack. The Arrows coach pulled out Lungelo Nguse and introduced Ryan Moon in the 58th minute.

However, it was the visitors' substitute Samir Nurkovic who made an impact with 18 minutes left on the clock. Solomon Letsoenyo set up the former Kaizer Chiefs star who beat Mlungwana to hand Galaxy the lead.

Arrows responded by attacking in numbers as they looked to level matters, but they were left vulnerable at the back. Nkosikhona Radebe made no mistake as he punished the hosts by scoring in the 85th minute to seal Galaxy's 2-0 win.
