The principal of the Pretoria High School for Girls has been placed on suspension amid racism allegations that rocked the school last week.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane, who was briefing the media during a visit to the school on Tuesday, said the principal would be on suspension for three months pending investigations.

This follows the suspension last week of 12 pupils and claims by black pupils that there was a WhatsApp group created by, and consisting only of, white pupils where alleged racial microaggressions were channelled about black pupils.

Chiloane said eight of the 12 learners were prefects (student leaders) and have since been withdrawn from their positions.
