Heavy rains trigger landslides in Port St Johns

PORT ST JOHNS - A humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape.

Overnight landslides hit the area and a massive storm saw a house struck by lightning.

Mayor Nomvuzo Mlombile Cingo says she's expecting disaster management teams to arrive in the next few hours.

The Gift of the Givers has also volunteered to help those affected by flash floods.

Local disaster teams have been working through the night to help those trapped by the heavy rains.
