Orlando Pirates’ defence of the MTN8 come under the microscope when the Soweto giants entertain Mamelodi Sundowns in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
The Buccaneers bagged the crown last year against AmaZulu at the same venue through a stunner from Monnapule Saleng.
Pirates aren’t in the best of form currently and just exited the CAF Champions League on post-match penalties against Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana.
It’s a complete opposite fortunes for the Brazilians, who are in the group stages of the Champions League and have an overall unbeaten start to the season.
Masandawana’s last match were pretty routine as the heavyweights from the nation’s capital edged Burundi’s Bumamuru FC 2-0 in their last match in the return-leg of the Champions League second preliminary round.
Both teams will have absentees for this clash, with Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi suspended having received a red card against Sundowns in a league clash recently.
On the other hand, Sundowns have Thapelo Morena, Sipho Mbule and Bathusi Aubaas out injured and defeated Bucs 1-0 in a recent league clash.
Kick-off is at 18h00.
