The Buccaneers and Babina Noko both make a short trip from Johannesburg to Tshwane for the last dance of the season.

Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United close the curtain on the 2022/23 domestic season when they clash in the Nedbank Cup final at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

It is a potentially stormy affair between Pirates, the Premier Soccer League runners-up and a Sekhukhune side with experienced players.

The Soweto giants will be bidding to end the season with two trophies after clinching the MTN8 earlier in the season.

What could inspire Sekhukhune is how Pirates have been struggling in some matches in this competition.

The Buccaneers were stretched to extra time by National First Division side Venda Academy in the last 16.

Then in the quarter-finals, Jose Riveiro’s side needed a penalty shootout to get past third-tier side Dondol Stars following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Pirates again needed more extra time to see off old foes Kaizer Chefs in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune only needed more time to secure victory when they went to a penalty shootout against Stellenbosch in the semi-finals.

But in previous rounds, they first hammered Liver Brothers 6-0, before dismissing Cape Town Spurs 2-0 in the last 16 and then a 2-1 quarter-final victory over Chippa United.

They now face Pirates in their first-ever Cup final and would be calling on their experienced players to carry the evening for them.
