NSFAS applications now open until 31 January 2024 - Capricorn FM

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme has opened applications for 2024 academic year funding from today until the 31st of January 2024.

This was announced by Higher Education, Science and Innovation Minister, Professor Blade Nzimande during a media briefing in Pretoria this afternoon, alongside NSFAS Board Chairperson Ernest Khosa.

Nzimande has urged prospective students to apply, and said first-time entering students don’t need to wait until they’ve received their matric results to apply.

He says NSFAS was awaiting the completion of the tax period by SARS before opening applications, as the updated information is necessary to assist NSFAS during the application season.

He says they check the applications against SARS to ensure that #NSFAS is not robbed, like people claiming to be looked after by their grandparents while their parents are still in fact around, and able to pay for their fees.

The minister also told the briefing that NSFAS has already engaged the Department of Basic Education and a number of students who are in matric are SASSA beneficiaries and has urged them to apply as they will be immediately funded.
