Follow live coverage as Nottingham Forest face Crystal Palace today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Nottingham Forest FC 0 - 0 Crystal Palace FC

20:52

Forest have an xG of 1.15 to Palace's 0.57, which probably tells the story of the fact Wood has two really good chances for the home side. It has felt a pretty tight encounter, though, and it is all to play for in the second half.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:51

So, it's goalless here at the City Ground between Forest and Palace as we reach half-time. The game started at a very good pace and both teams have hit the woodwork. Wood has also missed a couple of excellent opportunities, including one right at the end of the half. It did sort of fizzle out midway through the opening period, though, and this game needs a goal to really reignite things again.

HALF-TIME: NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0-0 CRYSTAL PALACE

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:49

OH HE'S GOT TO FINISH! Forest should have been ahead at the break! It's another excellent cross in from Anderson from the left and Wood stretches out a long leg and almost controls it straight at Henderson from close range when he should have buried it!

20:47

There will be two minutes of added time on in this first half.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:46

Chalobah marauds forward and finds Munoz, who cross is blocked behind by Moreno for a corner. Hughes takes it short, gets it back from Eze and sees his cross headed clear by Yates.

Yellow Card Daichi Kamada

20:41

Eze swings in a free-kick from deep after what seemed like an age for it to be taken. It was a complete waste of time as an offside flag is raised.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:40

There have been some good performances thus far, with Eze and Anderson particularly nice on the eye for Palace and Forest respectively. It just needs a little more bravery to find the opening goal you feel.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:37

The fizz has gone from the game just a little bit with two very good defences now on top a little bit.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:36

Elanga tries to break down the right for Forest but is denied by a very good challenge from Mitchell.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:34

You do sense that the first goal in this game, if indeed there is on, is going to be massive because it's a very even, very entertaining game and whoever makes the breakthrough might fancy their chances of seeing it out.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:31

Dominguez wins a corner for Forest that Elanga delivers from the left. It nearly falls for Wood but it looks like he actually accidentally cleared it away.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:29

Munoz swings a delivery in from the right and there are plenty of Palace bodies waiting. Kamada is the man to reach it but his miscues his volley and Selz gathers comfortably.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:28

The only thing missing to truly ignite this game is a goal but you have to say it's not been for a lack of trying, both sides are giving it a go. Nketiah once again shows good movement in the area but drags an effort wide of the right post.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:25

In all competitions, Nottingham Forest are winless in seven games at the City Ground (D4 L3). It’s their longest run without a home win since October 2020 (also 7), while they last went longer in February 2012 (8), a run which included a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Championship.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:25

OH HOW CLOSE! Elanga puts a brilliant cross in from the right that Henderson can't get near but thankfully for the visitors Chalobah makes a crucial touch to put it behind. At the resulting corner Palace initially clear but it's headed back in by Moreno before captain Yates nods agonisingly against the post. The skipper now needs treatment and there's a break in proceedings.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:22

GREAT EFFORT! Nketiah has the Forest defence backtracking but the shot still looks difficult. The former Arsenal man hits a wonderful swerving effort, though, and it clips the outside of the right post.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:20

Former Derby County man Hughes gets roundly booed when he collects the ball on the right wing. The midfielder delivers into the penalty area but Aina comfortably chests back into Selz's arms.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:18

HUGE CHANCE! Oh, Wood should score. He's been in excellent form and that was bread and butter for the New Zealander. Anderson delivers a wonderful ball from deep and Wood heads over the top despite having the run on his marker. You'd expect the net to have bulged there.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:18

How about those feet from Anderson? Hudson-Odoi saw a shot blocked and his team-mate, almost Messi-esque, glides through the challenge of three Palace defenders in the area before drawing the save from former Forest loanee Henderson. At the follow-up corner, Wood flicks a header goalwards that is cleared on the line from Lerma.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:15

Shortly after Hudson-Odoi almost gets fully in behind for Forest, Palace go up the other end to work the ball to Nketiah, who hits a tame effort straight at Selz. You'd expect him to do a bit better in truth.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:13

Forest have struggled to get going so far in attack but Milenkovic has been superb at the back. The Serbian makes one particularly excellent sliding challenge to beat Nketiah to a long punt over the top.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:11

Palace have been pretty bright in the early exchanges, seeing plenty of the ball. Kamada shapes to shoot from distance but, on his weaker left foot, the effort is tame and easily held by Selz.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:09

Eze thinks he should have a foul after copping an arm in the face from Yates but it was completely accidental. At the other end, Guehi stops a Forest counter with a crunching tackle.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:08

Aina goes around Lerma on the right and is crudely pulled back by the Palace midfielder to prevent the attack. Referee Robinso has no hesitation in going to his pocket for the yellow card.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:06

Ooft close! Eze picks up the ball about 40 yards from goal and charges forward before bending a 25-yard effort narrowly wide of the left post. The first real effort of note goes to the visitors.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

20:04

Forest, whose boss Nuno Espirito Santo is serving a touchline ban, have not seen much of the ball in the early exchanges although Palace have not yet threatened their goal either.

Referee Tim Robinson blows his whistle and we are underway at the City Ground!

The players are out on the pitch and kick-off is now just moments away in this one...

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

19:30

Worryingly for Palace, they are winless in their past 10 top-flight meetings with Forest (D6 L4), last coming out on top 1-0 away in February 1991. Indeed, Forest have never lost in eight Premier League meetings with Palace (W3 D5). It's the most they've faced without losing and the most Palace have faced without winning in the competition.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

19:30

Forest note two changes with suspended duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Ward-Prowse replaced by Dominguez and Elanga. For Palace, Wharton and Sarr drop to the bench with Hughes and Kamada coming into the XI. Academy graduates Kporha and Agbinone make the bench and will be looking to make their respective Premier League debuts.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

Conversely, it's been a hugely difficult season for the Eagles, who are yet to chalk up a win and only have three points to their name. Much was expected of Palace after an impressive end to the last campaign under Oliver Glasner but things just haven't got going for Palace. The situation is not completely dire yet but they could really do with a shot in the arm to inject some life in their season.

Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace

19:30

Forest have been in decent form this campaign, losing only once in seven top-flight outings and entered the international break with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea despite a late sending off for James Ward-Prowse. Indeed, a victory here tonight could see them climb as high as eighth in the table.
