Next hearing over Green Monkey search campaign on Nov 29
Cape Town: German tourists begun a global search campaign ‘Green Monkey’ to find their lost family member – Nick Frischke. Mother of the missing tourist, along with other family and friends has launched this to find her son who disappeared on February 15, 2023.
Till now, in the investigation under the campaign it is found that the four alleged 28s gang members were accused of robbing Frischke. Other residents who remained closed to the public at the Wynberg Regional Court were called for state witnesses also.
Reportedly, the case against the five men who are connected to this crime keeps on getting postponed. The 22-year-old Nick Frischke was kidnapped on Valentine’s Day last year in 2023 when he went for hiking, along the Hangberg trail in Hout Bay.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) released a statement over the case that when the accused were arrested earlier, they were had some of belongings of Frischke’s with them. they even admitted that they have robbed a cellphone of him, including backpack and some other items.
Whereas, the state is trying to add murder charges on them, that the accused have killed the 22-year-old German tourist.
One of the officers of NPA – Eric Ntabazalila has confirmed that the matter is still on hold and is being searched through cameras but would be presented openly to the public by next week.
The four accused, Ishaam Fischer, Melvin Geunantin, Vanroy Peterson and Carlo Geunanin made an appearance at the Wynberg Regional Court.
Commander Ntabazalila explained further on the case that the state will call the Hout Bay Station Commander to testify and the court will remain open to the members of the public that will also involve the media.
Moreover, the case is postponed to held on November 29, 2024. If proved guilty, the group will face charges related to Frischke that will comprise of a number of robberies that allegedly tool place in Hout Bay.
As per the sources, the accused will be charged of robbery, housebreaking, firearm and ammunition related charges. It will also include Prevention of Organised Crime (POCA).
