Kaizer Chiefs youngster Naledi Hlongwane says he wants to do something special for his family with the R100,000 prize money from the Carling Cup.

Hlongwane was one of the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) players who stole the show at Orlando Stadium, scoring a brace in the 3-0 win over Magesi.

He scooped the Man of the Match prize money of R100,000, which also prevented Elvis Chipezeze from ending the 2024 tournament with the prize in every game played.

“The money that I got today, as my father passed away last year, I was planning to at least buy a tombstone for him… then the other, obviously I will give my mom and the [rest] will go into a savings account,” he said glowingly after the game.

“It was a great experience playing with the big players in the PSL, and Mfundo [has inspired], I have been training with him before he was promoted to the first team, 17, U19, and DDC before he was promoted.”

Hlongwane will now be aiming to impress at club level and follow in the footsteps of Vilakazi in the Amakhosi first team.
