This is the first meeting between the teams and a first between a team from Egypt and a team from East Africa.
The only other clashes between teams from East Africa and North Africa took place over the last three editions and involved Moroccan Clubs AS FAR and SC Casablanca.
In the 2021 edition the first clash between teams from UNAF and the CECAFA region saw AS FAR lose to Vihiga Queens of Kenya as they lost 2-0. The next clash saw AS FAR defeat Tanzanian club Simba Queens 1-0 in 2022, while the last meeting between SC Casablanca and JKT Queens also of Tanzania saw the Moroccans win 4-1.
All three clashes have been at the group stages.
FC Masar
· Are the first team from Egypt to go through their opening two games at the finals undefeated.
· Egypt’s previous representative at the finals, Wadi Degla won their opening game in 2021 and then lost their next game and drew their final group game, while in 2022 Wadi Degla lost all three of their group games.
· FC Masar have kept two clean-sheets at the finals to become the first debutant to do so since Mamelodi Sundowns in 2021.
· SC Masar will progress with a draw to the Semi-finals.
· Should they progress, Masar will be the first Egyptian club to reach the knockout rounds, Wadi Degla in 2021 and 2022 were eliminated in the group stages.
· Should they reach the last four Masar will be the third club from the UNAF region to reach the Semi-finals along with AS FAR and SC Casablanca.
· Previously in their final group game at the finals, Egypt’s representative Wadi Degla failed to win their final group game, drawing 2-2 with Hasaacas Ladies in 2021 and losing 3-0 to Bayelsa Queens in 2022.
· Masar failed to have a shot on target in their second game against Edo Queens a 0-0 stalemate. They had three on target in their 1-0 win over Sundowns.
· Should they draw 0-0 and progress to the Semi-finals they will become the first team to reach the last four by scoring just a single goal in their group games. The fewest goals a team has scored to reach the Semi-finals is two by Sundowns in 2021.
· FC Masar goalkeeper, Habiba Sabry has made five saves in the current finals, saving all five shots on target she has faced.
Central Bank of Ethiopia
· CBE have already been eliminated from the tournament and are looking for their first points and goals.
· CBE have conceded 7 goals across their opening two games losing to Edo Queens of Nigeria 3-0 and then 4-0 against Sundowns in their last game.
· Should they fail to score Edo Queens will be the third team to not score at the finals along with Determine Girls and Wadi Degla who both did not score across their three group games in 2022.
· CBE have faced 13 shots on target and have conceded 7 goals.
· CBE have had an average possession percentage over their previous two games of just 34%.
· Should CBE lose, they will be the first team from East Africa to lose all three games at the finals. Each of East Africa’s three previous representatives have won at least one game at the finals.
