Milan are set to welcome Theo Hernandez, Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic back into the starting XI for Saturday evening’s Serie A match against Monza, but Rafael Leao is heading for a third consecutive start on the bench in the league.
The eighth placed Rossoneri were without Hernandez and Reijnders through suspension for the 2-0 loss against Napoli on Tuesday, while Pulisic missed was down with the flu and was only fit enough to start from the bench. All three are expected to be included in Paulo Fonseca’s line-up for Monza.
Leao, however, remains out of favour under his compatriot, and is likely to start on the bench for the third Serie A game in succession. That is good news for Samuel Chukwueze, who is expected to earn his third consecutive league start.
Noah Okafor is expected to be the direct replacement for Leao on the left-wing, with Chukwueze on the right and Pulisic through the middle. With Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana likely to start in midfield, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also expected to be benched.
Kick-off is due at 19.45 GMT.
Monza (3-4-2-1): Turati; Izzo, Marì, Carboni; Birindelli, Pessina, Bondo, Kyriakopoulos; Caprari, Mota; Djuric.
Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Terracciano, Pavlovic, Thiaw, T.Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Pulisic, Okafor; Morata.
