Miranda Lambert set to rock Midland: Largest concert at ...
MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - If you haven’t heard, country superstar Miranda Lambert is coming to town, and her concert at Momentum Bank Ballpark will be their biggest concert event to date. The RockHounds have been hosting concerts for the community for years, but bringing in a major artist like Miranda Lambert means there are some new and unique challenges to make sure everything goes well.
Shelly Haenggi, General Manager of the RockHounds, shared, “We’ve had crews on site from the beginning of this weekend as soon as the Midland RockHounds team left on Sunday. We’ve had production crews, large trucks coming in with stages, we’ve had concessions groups with ice trucks and additional concessions, as well as other resources.”
The event is expected to draw between five to ten thousand attendees, marking a significant shift in the momentum at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Haenggi assured fans that both the team and the field will be ready for their next big game on July 4th.
Ray Fieldhouse, Assistant General Manager of the RockHounds, noted the scale of the event, “This is probably close to three times as big of a production as our normal yearly country concert that we do. Not to knock our normals at all, it’s just bigger.”
Tim Willis, owner of TW Stations, echoed this sentiment, “When we usually come here we only do like 2 or 3 days, but this is going to be like 5 days of work. Yeah, it’s crazy. I’ve never done 5 days here before. It’s an adventure, we enjoy it. As long as it’s not too hot and like I said, everyone stays hydrated, we’ll do great.”
Regarding the field’s condition, Fieldhouse and Haenggi explained, “The areas where the food traffic is going to be we’re going to have five days for the grass just to have a deep sigh, take a breath, and be fine. We will be replacing about 12,000 square feet of grass where the stage was and where the spectators are standing immediately following the show.”
