Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 10 seed, won against Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 25 seed, 6-3, 6-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium on Tuesday.

She is the first woman to reach her first two WTA 1000 semi-finals in back-to-back tournaments since Sofia Kenin (in Toronto and Cincinnati in 2019).

This was Rybakina’s 12th win in a row. Out of her 18 career semi-finals, this is her 13th on a hard court.

Rybakina, ranked No 7, will face the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, and Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 27 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Kazakh beat Russian Anna Kalinskaya (7-5, 4-6, 6-3), Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 21 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-3) and Belgian Elise Mertens (6-4, 6-3).

Trevisan, ranked No 24, won against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (6-4, 6-3), American Claire Liu (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 24 seed (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Miami tournament.
