Manchester City take leadership of English Premier League

Manchester City took over leadership of the English Premier League with Sunday’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United. 

After the latest matches in the top five European leagues over the weekend, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Union Berlin, and Monaco are in the top positions in their respective leagues.

A 10-man Liverpool secured a 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle United to be fourth in the standings. Darwin Nunez scored twice on the road.

Manchester United bested Nottingham Forest 3-2 as Chelsea upset Luton Town 3-0.

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw with Fulham in the London derby.

Manchester City are at the top of the table with nine points, while West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal collected seven points each so far.  

France’s Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Lens 3-1 at Parc des Princes as Kylian Mbappe and Marco Asensio scored for the Parisians.

Nantes drew 3-3 with Monaco, and Olympique Marseille defeated Brest 2-0.

Monaco are at the top of the table with seven points on goal difference, ahead of second-place Olympique Marseille.  

Spain’s La Liga

Real Madrid clinched a narrow win over Celta Vigo with the help of Jude Bellingham.

Defending champion Barcelona defeated Villarreal with a score of 4-3. Girona beat Sevilla 2-1

Real Madrid are at the top of La Liga with nine points, and Girona and Barcelona have seven points each.  

Italy’s Serie A

Both Napoli and AC Milan won their games. Napoli beat 10-man Sassuolo 2-0 while AC Milan defeated Torino 4-1.

Fiorentina and Juventus were held to a draw. AC Milan lead the Serie A table with six points on goal difference, ahead of Napoli and Hellas Verona.  

Germany’s Bundesliga

Defending champion Bayern Munich beat Augsburg 3-1, as Harry Kane scored twice in the victory.

Union Berlin beat Darmstadt 4-1 and Borussia Dortmund drew 1-1 with Bochum.

Bayern Munich, Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, and Freiburg have bagged six points each so far, but Union Berlin are at the top of the table on goal difference.
